Assistant Chief Steward

About the role

The Assistant Chief Steward supports the daily operations of the Stewarding Department, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and operational efficiency across kitchen and back‑of‑house areas. You will work closely with the Chief Steward and other hotel teams to maintain a safe, organized environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the stewarding team, allocating daily duties.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in all kitchen and back‑of‑house areas.
• Oversee proper cleaning and handling of crockery, cutlery, kitchen equipment and utensils.
• Monitor usage and stock of cleaning chemicals and stewarding supplies.
• Ensure correct waste disposal and a tidy working environment.
• Support staff training, scheduling and performance monitoring.
• Coordinate with Kitchen, F&B and other departments for smooth daily operations.
• Guarantee compliance with food safety, health, safety and company standards.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a Stewarding or Senior Steward role within a hotel, resort, restaurant or similar hospitality setting.
• Supervisory experience is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hygiene, sanitation and cleaning procedures.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Reliable, hardworking and flexible to work varied shifts.
• Experience in high‑volume hospitality operations is an advantage.
