Expert LP & APS Modelling

About the role

Maintain, develop and continuously improve the refinery Linear Programming (LP) and Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) models to support informed decision‑making, operational excellence and margin maximisation. The role acts as the focal point for all LP and APS modelling activities within Production Planning & Scheduling.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, validate and enhance the refinery LP model to reflect configuration, unit performance, constraints and economic drivers.
• Develop and optimise the APS scheduling model to capture logistics, inventory and scheduling limitations.
• Coordinate monthly model update cycles, reviewing inputs, assumptions and crude data.
• Deliver validated LP and APS models on schedule to support business decisions.
• Perform plan‑versus‑actual analyses, identify gaps and implement corrective improvements.
• Govern the crude assay database, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
• Conduct optimisation studies, sensitivity analyses and scenario modelling to identify value‑maximising opportunities.
• Develop reporting systems, dashboards and automated tools to improve planning efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in production planning, refinery optimisation or related fields.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
