Junior Infrastructure Trainee Engineer

About the role

KalSoft is seeking a Junior Infrastructure Trainee Engineer to join its team in Sohar, Oman. This entry‑level position is open to Omani nationals with a degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field who want to develop hands‑on experience in IT infrastructure, Microsoft 365, networking and technical support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic IT help‑desk and technical support to end users.
• Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
• Assist with Microsoft 365 administration and user account management.
• Participate in Veeam backup activities and monitor backup jobs.
• Help with website and domain administration and publishing.
• Monitor email security issues such as spoofing, spam and scams.
• Support network devices – switches, wireless access points, VLANs and DHCP.
• Work with Cisco Meraki, Cisco switches and Cisco access points.
• Assist in VPN configuration and network security troubleshooting.
• Provide basic support for printers, CCTV/DVR and other IT hardware.
• Document IT environments, incidents and troubleshooting steps.
• Maintain simple IT reports using Excel pivot tables, graphs and charts.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and support EDR/MDR solutions.
• Explore practical use of Microsoft Copilot and AI tools while respecting security policies.

Required profile

• Omani national with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduate or entry‑level candidate.
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure, networking and troubleshooting.
• Good communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills in an IT support environment.
