Lead Engineer Energy Performance

About the role

The Lead Engineer Energy Performance will drive OQEP’s Energy Management System (EnMS) across all operated assets, ensuring systematic capture, evaluation and reporting of energy data. The role is responsible for delivering measurable energy cost savings, supporting decarbonisation and overall asset performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead deployment and operation of the EnMS, maintaining manuals, procedures and documentation in line with ISO 50001.
• Conduct periodic energy reviews to identify Significant Energy Uses (SEUs), performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Develop and maintain the Energy Data Collection Plan and Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs) with baselines and targets.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams to deliver energy efficiency, optimisation and decarbonisation projects within scope, budget and schedule.
• Facilitate Energy Management Team meetings, track action items and ensure follow‑up on initiatives.
• Plan, manage and execute the EnMS audit programme, including corrective action closure.
• Provide technical support to asset owners, act as primary interface with Sustainability, Operations and engineering stakeholders.
• Lead digitalisation initiatives related to EnMS and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process/Chemical or Energy Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Energy Management preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical/electrical/process engineering or energy management, preferably in oil & gas upstream operations.
• Proven experience implementing and managing an ISO 50001‑compliant EnMS, including energy reviews and EnPI management.
• ISO Lead Auditor certification is mandatory; Certified Energy Manager (CEM) desirable.
• Strong ability to influence multidisciplinary teams without direct authority.
