Product Development Designer (CAD)

About the role

The Product Development Designer (CAD) is a cross‑segment technical resource responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, 2D technical drawings and design data that support new product development across Outdoor & Recreation, Learning & Development and Home & Commercial segments. Working within the New Product Creation function, you will translate concepts from Product Development Specialists and Industrial Designers into manufacturable CAD models and production‑ready documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings with GD&T for parts and assemblies.
• Produce engineering drawings, BOMs and design documentation according to Newell standards.
• Manage design data, revisions and change control within PDM/PLM systems.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing principles for injection and blow molding, ensuring optimal wall thickness, draft angles and cost targets.
• Collaborate closely with Industrial Design to balance aesthetics, function and manufacturability.

Required profile

• Experience in plastic part design for injection and blow molding.
• Strong understanding of polymeric resins, molding processes and tooling.
• Ability to produce robust, parametric models that support downstream tooling.
• Familiarity with GD&T and engineering documentation standards.
