Site Engineer – Trackwork

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to lead trackwork construction on railway projects. The role involves supervising contractors, ensuring compliance with design and safety standards, and reporting progress to the project management team.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor all trackwork activities performed by contractors on site.
• Verify compliance with approved drawings, method statements, inspection and test plans, and technical specifications.
• Inspect installation of rails, sleepers, ballast, fastening systems, turnouts, alignment, and levels.
• Coordinate with civil, systems, signaling, electrification, and interface teams to ensure seamless execution.
• Monitor contractor resources, manpower, equipment, and construction sequences against the approved programme.
• Identify and escalate construction issues, technical deviations, and site constraints.
• Witness inspections, testing, and commissioning of trackwork elements.
• Review contractor submissions such as shop drawings, material approvals, work method statements, and progress reports.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements and report unsafe conditions.
• Track daily progress, productivity, and work fronts, and prepare site observations and progress updates.
• Participate in site, coordination, and client meetings, inspections, and walk‑downs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience on railway projects.
• Proven experience supervising or inspecting trackwork construction, preferably in a PMC, consultancy, or supervision environment.
• Strong knowledge of railway track components and installation methods.
