Environment Health Safety Lead – Brownfield Expansion

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned HSE Lead to drive the Health, Safety & Environment function for a brownfield expansion project in Sohar, Oman. The successful candidate will lead engineering controls, audits and compliance, and act as the primary HSE liaison with the client.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HSER engineering initiatives, develop advanced controls and mentor junior engineers.
• Oversee specialized HSER programs, conduct complex investigations and root‑cause analyses.
• Perform internal and client‑driven site audits, inspections and routine surveys.
• Maintain audit documentation, track corrective actions and monitor trends.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System.
• Generate safety performance reports and provide trend‑based analysis.
• Participate in Job Safety Assessments and daily Toolbox Talks.
• Conduct contractor HSE inspections and audits according to client checklists.
• Report weekly audit results, follow up on action plans and submit monthly client reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Environmental, Safety or Chemical preferred).
• NEBOSH IGC certification (mandatory).
• 10–15 years of HSE experience, including at least 5 years in lead roles on brownfield construction/commissioning projects.
• Fluency in English and either Hindi or Chinese; Arabic knowledge is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of international HSE standards and practices.
