Assistant Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology

About the role

Muscat University is recruiting an Assistant Dean for its Faculty of Science and Technology. The position reports to the Dean and supports the Dean in providing academic and administrative leadership, covering academic quality assurance, research advancement, curriculum design and review, and monitoring of student and staff experience. It also helps with operational oversight and compliance with accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Help oversee the design, delivery and continuous improvement of academic programmes, in line with institutional strategy, OAAAQA requirements and accreditors.
• Support the faculty operational plan and help prepare evidence for Institutional Standards Assessment (ISA) and Programme Standards Assessment (PSA).
• Assist with faculty recruitment, workload allocation and mentoring, and coordinate staff development and training.
• Support initiatives for student retention, success and employability, and monitor student engagement and grievance handling.
• Help strengthen research culture, secure funding opportunities, manage industry and accreditation partnerships, and promote external events such as seminars and conferences.
• Support the establishment and assessment of a Research and Innovation Centre and/or Incubator, and incorporate employer feedback into programmes.
• Assist in managing budgets, resources and infrastructure, and prepare reports and documentation for the Vice-Chancellor, University Council or OAAAQA.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant academic discipline with a minimum rank of Associate Professor.
• Minimum 12-15 years of academic experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role at a recognised institution.
• Proven record of teaching, research and academic service.
• Priority in recruitment is given to Omani candidates.
