Chief Engineer - Maintenance & Engineering

About the role

An established industrial manufacturing company in Oman is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer to lead plant maintenance, engineering operations, equipment reliability and technical teams. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, Chlor-Alkali or continuous process plant environments. The position is full-time in Sohar.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical, electrical, utilities and plant maintenance operations.
• Manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Ensure reliability of rotating equipment, static equipment and plant utility systems.
• Oversee plant shutdowns, equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, contractors and technical procurement.
• Implement maintenance planning and reporting through SAP PM or CMMS.
• Supervise engineering modifications, equipment upgrades and maintenance projects.
• Ensure compliance with HSE standards and operational requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 15-20 years of industrial experience, including 5-8 years in senior maintenance leadership.
• Strong exposure to chemical, petrochemical, Chlor-Alkali or continuous process plants.
• Experience in rotating/static equipment, plant utilities, maintenance planning and shutdown management.
• Proven leadership, technical troubleshooting and team management capabilities.
• Strong English communication and reporting skills.
• Preference: Chlor-Alkali manufacturing experience and relevant Indian industrial sector exposure.
