Contract Manager – Major Development Project

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead the contractual lifecycle for a major development project in Oman. The role involves overseeing all aspects of construction contracts, particularly FIDIC forms, ensuring compliance and protecting the company’s commercial interests.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full contractual lifecycle from award to project completion and final account.
• Administer construction contracts in line with FIDIC requirements.
• Review and manage contract terms, obligations, risks and commercial exposure.
• Prepare, review and negotiate contractual correspondence, notices, amendments and agreements.
• Handle variations, claims, extensions of time (EOT), prolongation and disruption claims.
• Assess claims from clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
• Ensure timely issuance of all contractual notices.
• Monitor project progress and identify potential contractual and commercial risks.
• Support the commercial team with payment applications, valuations, final accounts and cost control.
• Lead contractual negotiations with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
• Assist with dispute avoidance, resolution and arbitration proceedings.
• Maintain accurate contract and claims registers and provide regular reports to senior management.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience, with at least 10 years in contracts management.
• MRICS or equivalent professional membership.
• Consultancy experience in cost management/quantity surveying.
• Strong knowledge of pre‑contract and post‑contract services.
• Proven experience developing and administering FIDIC contracts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to manage large, fast‑paced projects.
