Demi Chef de Partie

About the role

A Demi Chef de Partie is sought in the food and beverage and culinary field in Muscat, Oman, within a full-time, non-management position. The role covers preparing meals and dishes to standard, cooking according to recipes and quality standards, and supporting the kitchen team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare special meals or substitute items, and prepare cold foods.
• Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters, and pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator.
• Ensure proper portion, arrangement and garnish, and monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared.
• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards and the food preparation checklist.
• Maintain food logs and inform the Chef of excess food items for daily specials.
• Tell food and beverage service staff about menu specials and out-of-stock items, and anticipate guests' service needs.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining and motivating staff, and act as a role model.
• Follow company and safety policies, report accidents and unsafe conditions, complete safety training, and ensure a clean, professional appearance and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Preferred: a technical, trade or vocational school degree.
• Preferred: at least 3 years of related work experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Physical ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods, bend, twist and lift objects up to 25 pounds without assistance.
