Drilling Engineer – Muscat, Oman

About the role

The Drilling Engineer will support the Senior Drilling Engineer in delivering safe, cost‑effective well operations for the company in Muscat, Oman. You will provide continuous engineering advice, ensure compliance with safety standards, and contribute to the overall success of each drilling project.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in full well design and planning for assigned wells.
• Prepare well programs, budgets and AFE in line with the company’s drilling workflow.
• Strategize, plan and schedule drilling activities to maximise safety and cost efficiency.
• Coach and train junior drilling engineers on the project team.
• Identify and analyse non‑productive time (NPT) trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Review and modify technical specifications for tender packages to meet cost and HSE requirements.
• Coordinate on‑site rig inspections, acceptance tests and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Prepare final well reports and conduct after‑action reviews.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or B.E. in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of drilling engineering experience (5 years optional in deep‑water operations).
• Valid OPITO‑BOSIET certification.
• Strong communication, negotiation and teamwork skills.
• Good English proficiency and ability to work with local teams.

• Drilling engineering software: Compass, Wellplan, WellCAT, StressCheck, Openwell, Drillbench, WellBarrier.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
