Electrical Engineer – Solar IPP Technical Advisory

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Technical Advisory Team supporting a utility‑scale solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) project. The role involves providing specialist electrical engineering input from project definition through to contract negotiations and grid interconnection.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver electrical engineering input for the Project Definition Report and technical development of the solar IPP.
• Assess plant configuration, electrical architecture and power evacuation requirements.
• Review grid interconnection points, routes, and substation interfaces, providing technical guidance on HV/MV systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, protection, metering, SCADA and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate electrical requirements with OETC and other stakeholders, and evaluate PV modules, inverters and battery energy storage system (BESS) interfaces.
• Develop and review technical specifications, Minimum Functional Specifications, performance standards, schedules and drawings for RFP packages.
• Identify electrical constraints, risks and contribute to the Risk Allocation Matrix.
• Prepare technical pre‑qualification criteria, evaluate EPC bidders, and conduct detailed technical assessments of proposals.
• Support technical negotiations, draft clarification requests, and contribute to PPA, Electrical Connection Agreement and related project contracts.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical engineering for large‑scale renewable energy projects, particularly solar IPP developments.
• Strong understanding of grid interconnection, HV/MV system design, and power evacuation strategies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
