Electrical Engineer – Substation / HV-MV / Grid Interface (Oman)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide technical review, construction supervision, and commissioning support for high‑voltage and medium‑voltage electrical systems on a renewable energy infrastructure project in Oman. The role covers substations, underground cabling, overhead line works, grid interface coordination and related testing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Review electrical design deliverables, drawings, calculations, specifications, method statements and test procedures.
• Supervise and monitor HV/MV substation, underground cable, overhead line, electrical balance of plant and grid interface works.
• Coordinate with grid operators, transmission owners, contractors and project stakeholders.
• Witness inspections, testing, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, energisation and synchronisation activities.
• Handle technical queries, interface issues, non‑conformances and change requests, providing discipline recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with grid requirements, electrical standards, project specifications and industry best practice.
• Contribute technical input to progress reports, risk registers, design reviews and coordination meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in HV/MV substations, underground cabling, overhead line works, grid connections or similar electrical infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in design review, construction supervision, testing and commissioning of high‑voltage systems.
• Experience with 400 kV or equivalent high‑voltage grid interconnection is highly preferred.
