Materials Manager – Discipline Head (Materials, Corrosion & Integrity)

About the role

The Materials Manager will lead the Materials, Corrosion & Integrity (MCI) discipline, acting as the technical authority and department head. Reporting to the Engineering Director, the role is responsible for strategic, tactical and operational development of the department, driving new business acquisition and ensuring high performance.

Key responsibilities

• Formulate and execute the annual Balanced Score Card and Operational Plan, aligning with corporate objectives.
• Maintain and grow client relationships to secure new commissions and expand the order portfolio.
• Optimize capacity utilization and staff occupation rates across the department.
• Oversee HR activities, foster Omani talent, and manage coaching and mentoring programs.
• Ensure compliance with the MEC Quality System and HSE policies, implementing ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 29001:2020 standards.
• Report regularly on financial and operational performance to the Engineering/Technical Director.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a materials, corrosion or integrity department at a senior level.
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of developing local talent.
• Ability to create and drive strategic plans and achieve capacity utilization targets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client acquisition capabilities.
• Knowledge of Omani market dynamics and regulatory environment.
