MEP Designer – Data Center Projects

About the role

The MEP Designer will act as the PMO’s technical representative for data‑center facilities in Damascus Governorate. You will independently review mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs to ensure they are code‑compliant, buildable, and aligned with project briefs and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review MEP design submissions at all stages (concept, schematic, detailed, IFC, shop drawings) and provide actionable comments.
• Evaluate electrical packages – single‑line diagrams, HV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS and generator sizing, cable schedules, earthing and protection studies.
• Assess mechanical designs – cooling load calculations, CRAC/CRAH, chillers, cooling towers, pipework schematics, HVAC ductwork, and equipment specs.
• Check fire‑suppression, plumbing, and drainage designs for completeness and code compliance.
• Verify compliance with Tier classification (TIA‑942, Uptime Institute), resilience configurations (N+1, 2N) and PUE targets.
• Coordinate BIM models, ensure required LOD, and confirm clash detection is resolved before IFC release.
• Track open review comments, validate contractor responses, and maintain a live issue register.
• Participate in design review meetings, workshops, and BIM coordination sessions, producing minutes and action trackers.
• Support construction phase by reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, FAT/SAT procedures, and commissioning plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–12 years of MEP engineering experience in data‑center projects.
• Proven ability to conduct independent technical reviews and ensure design compliance.

Required skills

• Electrical design (single‑line diagrams, HV/LV distribution, switchgear, UPS, generator sizing).
