Senior Engineer Projects - Well Delivery

About the role

OQ is hiring a Senior Engineer Projects in Muscat, Oman, within its Operated Assets function (Well Delivery Projects). The role leads and coordinates the end-to-end delivery of well hook-ups, associated off-plot facilities and assigned projects, from engineering and procurement through construction, commissioning, handover and closeout. It ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in line with approved engineering documents, company standards and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead well-delivery projects and establish integrated plans covering resources, materials, inspections, construction, mechanical completion, commissioning and handover.
• Manage interfaces between Operations, Subsurface, Drilling, Asset Integrity, Engineering, Construction, Procurement, QA/QC, HSSE, contractors, consultants, vendors and authorities.
• Develop, baseline and monitor schedules, critical paths, milestones, budgets and costs, and track deviations and corrective actions.
• Verify contractor payment milestones and Value of Work Done (VOWD), and support budget preparation and cost optimisation.
• Manage project risks, delays, cost deviations and resource constraints, keeping registers and tracking actions to closure.
• Coordinate engineering design reviews, tendering, contracting and procurement, including long-lead items and material delivery.
• Monitor contractor and vendor performance, and lead performance reviews.
• Take part in HAZOP, HAZID, constructability, operability and maintainability reviews, value engineering and stage-gate reviews.
• Coordinate quality surveillance, inspections, testing, mechanical completion, commissioning readiness and acceptance of completion dossiers.
• Ensure compliance with permit-to-work, SIMOPS, tie-in, shutdown, isolation and live-facility requirements.
• Prepare project reports, dashboards and recovery plans, maintain project governance records, and ensure timely closeout including punch-list closure and handover.
• Coach project team members and promote standardisation, value improvement and digital engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical or Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant engineering experience, including project execution from concept through detailed engineering.
• Excellent written, spoken and reading English.
• Professional certifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or PMP are an advantage.

Working conditions include an office environment with site visits, moderate to intensive computer screen use, and site access subject to medical, security and HSSE requirements.
