Communications Assistant

About the role

The Communications Assistant will support FAO Oman in promoting its programmes, results and partnerships to a wide range of stakeholders. Working closely with the Office of Communications and technical teams, the incumbent will help increase the visibility of FAO’s work in the country and ensure that all communication outputs meet corporate standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing FAO Oman’s communication workplan and related activities.
• Gather and organise photos, videos, success stories and other content from ongoing projects.
• Draft, edit and adapt a variety of communication products such as news items, briefs, presentations, newsletters, infographics, videos and web content.
• Manage official social‑media channels by preparing, scheduling and publishing posts, visuals and short videos in line with FAO guidelines.
• Monitor social‑media engagement, compile statistics and produce regular performance reports.
• Adapt communication materials into Arabic and English to support outreach with government and local partners.
• Support visibility events and other communication initiatives as required.

Required profile

• Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills in both English and Arabic.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical and programme staff.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Social media content creation and scheduling.
• Social media analytics and reporting.
• Content editing for digital formats (news items, briefs, newsletters, infographics, videos).
• Proficiency in English and Arabic.
