Resident Engineer Trackwork

About the role

SYSTRA is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer Trackwork to lead on‑site delivery of the civil and track package for a railway project. Working under a PMC scope and embedded with the client and contractors, you will ensure construction quality, safety, progress, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in design reviews and meetings, guaranteeing that works follow design specifications and contract terms.
• Review and approve track construction method statements and material submittals for compliance.
• Supervise track construction activities, monitoring contractors and subcontractors for safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Analyse contractors’ plans, identify critical issues, and propose mitigation strategies to support client decisions.
• Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and stakeholders.
• Lead a team of inspectors, overseeing daily tasks, inspections, and professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• 10–15+ years of rail trackwork experience, including at least 10 years in a resident/site engineering leadership role on metro, mainline or high‑speed projects.
• Proven experience in PMC/client‑side supervision of large, multi‑package programmes.
• Strong knowledge of track systems, geometry, tolerances, welding techniques, stressing, handback criteria and associated civil works.
• Rigorous focus on safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent problem‑solving, risk identification and mitigation skills under schedule pressure.
