Senior Safety Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to lead technical safety engineering (TSE) activities for on‑shore oil and gas projects. The role involves developing safety philosophies, performing quantitative risk assessments, and supporting the transition of projects to operational assets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop HSE and fire‑&‑gas philosophies, cause‑and‑effect studies, layouts and mapping.
• Perform physical effects modelling, FEA/FGDEA, flare radiation, dispersion and quantitative risk assessments (QRA).
• Conduct studies using Shell FRED, SHEPHERD or other risk‑integration software.
• Lead safety hazard classification, critical element identification, bow‑tie analysis and ALARP demonstrations.
• Design fire safety, fire protection, escape routes and fire‑fighting systems.
• Facilitate workshops such as HAZID, HAZOP, bow‑ties, MOPO/SIMOP and LFI screenings.
• Participate in design reviews, safeguarding reviews and vendor document evaluations.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of engineering or consultancy experience in oil & gas facilities.
• At least 10 years of TSE experience on on‑shore projects, preferably PDO/Shell.
• Degree in Engineering (formal certification preferred).
• Proven experience across feasibility, concept, FEED, execution and asset transition phases.

• Vendor technical bid evaluation and document review.
