Application Support Specialist

About the role

The business is building a greenfield post‑trade platform in Oman and needs an Application Support Specialist to ensure operational health and stability of the platform during both build and production phases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 2nd and 3rd line application support across settlement, registry, clearing and corporate actions.
• Monitor production processes across trade, settlement, corporate actions and reconciliation, proactively identifying and resolving exceptions.
• Own incident, problem and root‑cause management, acting as technical lead during major incidents.
• Support and monitor messaging and integration interfaces, including SWIFT, ISO 15022 and ISO 20022.
• Investigate and resolve application, messaging and interface failures.
• Own the batch processing environment and enterprise scheduling, ensuring critical processes meet settlement‑day deadlines.
• Develop production monitoring, support procedures, runbooks and escalation processes.
• Help design and establish the run‑phase application support model.
• Collaborate with technology, operations, vendors and business stakeholders to maintain a resilient production environment.

Required profile

• 6–10 years of experience in application or production support, preferably within banking, financial services or capital markets.
• Strong hands‑on Linux/Unix experience; Linux certification strongly preferred.
• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Good understanding of the post‑trade lifecycle, including settlement, clearing, corporate actions and reconciliations.
• Exposure to multiple asset classes such as equities, fixed income and derivatives.
• Experience supporting SWIFT ISO 15022 and/or ISO 20022 messaging environments.
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise schedulers such as Control‑M or AutoSys.
• Strong SQL and scripting capabilities, including Shell and/or Python.
• Familiarity with production monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Understanding of ITIL‑aligned incident, problem and change management.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
