Assistant Bar Manager

About the role

The Assistant Bar Manager supports the daily operations of the Bar/Lounge, ensuring high‑quality service and product presentation. This entry‑level management position works closely with the Bar Manager to train staff, maintain standards, and uphold the operating budget.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily shift operations, monitor inventory levels, and maintain par stocks.
• Ensure food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness standards are met.
• Operate and report any malfunctions of bar equipment.
• Schedule staff using the Labor Management System and track attendance.
• Interact with guests to gather feedback and uphold exceptional customer service.
• Enforce local, state, and federal beverage and liquor laws.
• Train staff on cash handling, credit policies, and liquor control procedures.
• Provide necessary supplies, equipment, and uniforms to the team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of food‑and‑beverage experience, OR a 2‑year degree in Hospitality‑related field with 2 years of experience.
• Strong understanding of bar operations, inventory control, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to lead a team, manage schedules, and handle guest interactions professionally.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a Labor Management System for scheduling and time tracking.
• Cash handling and credit processing knowledge.
• Understanding of liquor control policies and compliance.
