Commercial Manager – Construction Projects

About the role

The Commercial Manager will lead the commercial and administrative functions of medium to large‑scale dam, earthworks and water‑infrastructure projects. This role ensures cost control, subcontractor management, financial reporting and stakeholder liaison are performed in line with company procedures and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage commercial and administrative aspects of construction projects, including cost control, procurement, quality management and LEAN construction.
• Set up and lead the commercial project team: recruit, train, and ensure compliance with company regulations and procedures.
• Oversee monthly commercial closing, cost booking, accruals, stock, performance metrics, receivables and payments.
• Handle subcontractor agreements, invoicing, certificates, deductions, final accounts and flag commercial risks and opportunities.
• Represent the company in meetings, maintain liaison with the employer and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, providing required data to auditors.
• Prepare commercial forecasts, monitor targets and ensure contractual terms are applied correctly.
• Collaborate with finance controllers on queries, customize commercial procedures to project needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in finance/commercial roles within construction.
• Strong understanding of project cost control, contract management and cash‑flow management.
• Professional certifications such as ACCA or CPA are a plus.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS365, AS4U).
