Cost Controller – Hotel Operations

About the role

The Cost Controller will oversee the monitoring and optimisation of operational expenses within a hotel environment. You will work closely with department heads and the finance team to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining service quality.

Key responsibilities

• Track daily operational costs, identify variances and analyse trends.
• Collaborate with department heads to manage and monitor departmental budgets.
• Support the implementation of cost‑control measures without compromising service standards.
• Oversee inventory control processes, conduct regular audits and minimise waste.
• Maintain accurate expense records in line with accounting standards.
• Prepare and present regular cost reports and analyses for management review.
• Identify opportunities for cost‑saving and process improvement.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
• Assist with internal and external audits as required.
• Work with procurement and suppliers to negotiate terms, monitor vendor performance and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Provide guidance and training to colleagues on cost‑control practices.
• Integrate cost data into broader financial analysis and reporting.
• Promote safe and environmentally responsible practices in line with hotel policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cost control, budgeting or financial analysis, preferably within hospitality.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret cost data and trends.
• Good understanding of inventory management and audit procedures.
• Familiarity with financial regulations, accounting standards and audit processes.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with multiple departments.
