Field Operator Internship – Process Equipment Support

About the role

This internship supports the operation and monitoring of process equipment in an oil & gas environment. You will work closely with the Control Room Operator and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in start‑ups, shutdowns, pressurising and depressurising of equipment and pipelines.
• Monitor and record operational parameters (pressure, temperature, level) and report abnormalities.
• Perform basic operational and maintenance checks under supervision.
• Prepare equipment for maintenance, including isolation, draining and decontamination.
• Handle chemicals, lubricants and coolants safely and collect samples as directed.
• Maintain accurate handover information for the next shift.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and follow QHSE procedures (LOTO, PTW, TBT, JHA).

Required profile

• Technical degree in Industrial Processes, Chemical, Petroleum or equivalent.
• 0‑2 years experience in a similar oil & gas role or strong academic background.
• Good English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.
• Motivated team player able to work in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic understanding of Maintenance Management Systems (work orders, preventive/corrective/predictive maintenance).
• Familiarity with Plant PFDs, P&IDs, drawings, Cause & Effect matrix and Fire & Gas detection philosophy.
• General troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
