Financial Reporting & Tax Specialist – General Ledger Lead

About the role

The Financial Reporting & Tax Specialist will lead General Ledger accounting and financial control activities for Omantel, ensuring accurate, timely reporting and compliance with IFRS, tax regulations and internal policies. The role drives process improvement, supports finance transformation projects and partners with business units to safeguard financial integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all General Ledger accounting activities, guaranteeing completeness and accuracy of financial records.
• Manage monthly, quarterly and annual close processes in line with reporting timelines.
• Maintain the Chart of Accounts and accounting master data.
• Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, ensuring compliance with IFRS (including IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 21, IAS 29, Pillar Two).
• Design, implement and monitor financial controls to meet listed‑company governance standards.
• Support cross‑functional projects (network investments, ICT contracts, mergers, digital services) by evaluating accounting implications early.
• Identify and implement automation opportunities using ERP enhancements, RPA, AI‑assisted reconciliations and dashboard reporting.
• Coordinate external audit activities and support internal audit reviews, ensuring timely closure of actions.
• Deliver responsive accounting support to internal stakeholders and safeguard company assets.
• Lead, coach and develop the accounting team, set performance objectives and ensure knowledge transfer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in General Ledger accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance.
• Proven ability to lead a team and manage complex accounting projects.
• Strong understanding of IFRS standards and regulatory requirements for listed companies.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS (including IFRS 15, IFRS 16, IAS 21, IAS 29, Pillar Two).
• Experience with ERP accounting systems.
• Proficiency in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools.
• Ability to use AI‑assisted reconciliation and dashboard reporting solutions.
• Expertise in designing and monitoring internal control frameworks.
