Flowers & Plants Procurement and Import Officer

About the role

A leading importer and wholesaler of fresh cut flowers, roses, and live plants is seeking an experienced Procurement and Import Officer to manage sourcing, purchasing, and import logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Source international growers and suppliers, evaluate quotations and negotiate terms.
• Purchase flowers, roses, and live plants according to required varieties, quantities, and quality specifications.
• Plan purchases based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, and seasonal demand to minimise shortages and waste.
• Calculate landed costs including freight, customs clearance and transportation.
• Track purchase orders, shipments and import documentation, coordinating with freight and customs agents.
• Monitor shipment quality and quantities, resolve shortage or damage claims with suppliers.
• Prepare purchasing, pricing and supplier performance reports.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in flower, rose or plant procurement and imports, preferably in wholesale.
• Knowledge of varieties, quality grades, stem lengths, packaging, seasonality and cold‑chain requirements.
• Experience working with international suppliers, especially from the Netherlands, Kenya and Ethiopia.
• Strong negotiation and cost‑analysis abilities.
• Proficiency in English.
