Head of Strategy (Retail Bank)

About the role

The client is a leading regional bank in Oman seeking a Head of Strategy for its retail banking division. This senior position will shape the bank’s long‑term strategic agenda and drive execution of transformation programmes over the next five years.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the bank’s long‑term strategy and annual business planning process.
• Translate strategic priorities into measurable initiatives, enterprise‑wide action plans and KPI frameworks.
• Drive strategic transformation programmes, monitor progress against objectives and report to senior executives, the board and rating agencies.
• Prepare presentations for executives, investors, regulators and rating agencies.
• Conduct market, competitor and industry analysis to identify growth opportunities and emerging risks.
• Support funding strategy, capital planning and the preparation of strategic business cases.
• Partner with business, operations, technology and finance teams to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
• Engage with external stakeholders including regulators, shareholders, consultants and strategic partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Strategy or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in banking strategy, corporate planning, transformation or related functions.
• Proven experience in a full‑time strategy or transformation role within a bank.
• Strong commercial acumen and deep understanding of banking products, operations and industry dynamics.
• Excellent stakeholder management and board‑level presentation skills.
• Ideal mix of management‑consulting experience and in‑house banking strategy exposure.
