Instrumentation & Control Commissioning Engineer – Solar PV Plant

About the role

SEGULA Technologies is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning, testing, integration and hand‑over of the control, monitoring and communication systems for a utility‑scale solar PV plant in Sohar, Oman.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate pre‑commissioning and commissioning of instrumentation, automation, SCADA and plant‑control systems.
• Lead commissioning activities for SCADA, Plant Power Controller (PPC), inverter monitoring, RTUs, PLCs, weather stations, energy meters and communication gateways.
• Perform loop checks, point‑to‑point checks, signal simulation, functional testing and verification of alarms, interlocks and control sequences.
• Test communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870‑5‑104 and OPC.
• Integrate SCADA, PPC, inverter, metering, substation and grid‑control systems and support plant energisation, synchronization and performance testing.
• Coordinate with EPC contractors, electrical commissioning teams, inverter manufacturers, SCADA vendors and the grid operator.
• Identify and resolve commissioning issues, manage punch‑list items and ensure timely system hand‑over.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, quality, HSE and grid‑code requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical, Electronics, Automation Engineering or a related discipline.
• More than 10 years of hands‑on I&C experience, preferably on utility‑scale solar PV projects.
• Proven ability to lead commissioning teams and manage complex integration tasks.
