Lead Database Administrator

About the role

Join a new financial‑markets infrastructure venture in Oman as the Lead Database Administrator. You will design and stand up the core data layer for a greenfield platform and later operate and evolve the estate you built.

Key responsibilities

• Design the database architecture from first principles, selecting platforms, defining schemas, storage, HA, replication, clustering, backup, point‑in‑time recovery and security.
• Install, configure and operate enterprise database platforms across the estate, maintaining standards, patching and version currency.
• Own high‑availability and disaster‑recovery for the authoritative register, regularly testing failover and restore.
• Monitor performance, tune SQL, plan capacity and optimise the settlement and registry lifecycle.
• Implement database security: hardening, encryption, privileged‑access controls and vulnerability management.
• Design the run‑phase operating model, author runbooks and build/lead the database team.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• 6‑10 years of DBA experience, preferably in large financial institutions.
• Strong expertise with Oracle, SQL Server and experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Deep knowledge of backup/recovery, HA, replication, clustering and performance tuning.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux, Windows and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
• Fluent written and spoken English.

What we offer
