Lead Project Engineer

About the role

Wood is seeking a Lead Project Engineer to join its Projects team, focusing on FEED and detailed design for the NGL Acceleration and Marjan projects. You will drive material engineering, corrosion control, and coating qualification activities while ensuring compliance with HSE, QA/QC, and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead material selection and engineering for pipeline, materials, and construction scopes.
• Develop and implement corrosion control plans, mitigation strategies, and inspection/monitoring programs.
• Prepare and review coating qualifications, procedures, and related documentation.
• Manage material databases, document reviews, and recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare welding qualifications, PQRs, and WPSs.
• Oversee material examinations, testing, and NDT inspections to ensure compliance with standards.
• Support risk‑based inspections and process safety programs.
• Ensure HSE and QA/QC compliance throughout design and material selection.
• Mentor local engineers and contribute to their development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in material engineering for oil & gas projects, including FEED and detailed design phases.
• Strong knowledge of industry specifications for metallic and non‑metallic materials.
• Ability to manage technical interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Material selection for carbon steel, low alloy steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, duplex, super duplex, Inconel.
• Corrosion control planning and mitigation.
• Coating qualification and selection.
• Welding qualification procedures (PQR, WPS).
• NDT inspection techniques.
• Risk‑based inspection and process safety program support.
• HSE and QA/QC implementation.
