Lead Technologist Engineer – Utilities

About the role

SGS is seeking a Lead Technologist Engineer for Utilities to provide expert technical services and ensure the highest levels of safety, reliability and availability for the Oman LNG complex. The role combines strategic planning, operational leadership and hands‑on technical support across engineering, production and maintenance functions.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between senior leadership and team members to enable timely decisions.
• Drive delivery of technical excellence within Utilities Technology and strengthen assurance processes for uninterrupted plant operation.
• Assist in developing and implementing the long‑term strategic plan for utility technology activities, aligning with production, maintenance and project goals.
• Lead detailed design and definition work for plant changes through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
• Initiate and manage development studies aimed at improving plant performance, process safety and integrity.
• Apply barrier thinking and risk‑based assessments to safeguard plant safety and integrity.
• Provide technical support to Operations and Engineering, including troubleshooting and problem analysis.
• Conduct regular team check‑ins, deliver feedback, and train members on new competencies and ways of working.

Required profile

• Proven experience in utilities technology within an LNG or similar industrial environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep understanding of process safety, risk assessment and plant integrity principles.
• Experience managing change initiatives and delivering technical projects.
