Network & Digital Security Governance Officer

About the role

The Security Governance Officer will support AWASR in establishing, implementing and continuously improving security and privacy governance frameworks, policies and procedures. The role focuses on risk mitigation, regulatory compliance and fostering a strong security culture across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation and enforcement of security and Personal Data Protection policies, ensuring alignment with PDPL, GDPR, ISO27001 and other standards.
• Manage access control governance, including credential issuance, periodic reviews and least‑privilege access.
• Oversee visitor and physical access processes, conduct inspections of security controls and respond to incidents and data breaches.
• Coordinate business continuity, emergency response and third‑party security assessments.
• Maintain governance records, risk registers, compliance documentation and prepare reports for senior management and regulators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in information security, computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1‑3 years of experience in information security governance or relevant internships.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
• Attention to detail, organizational ability and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Knowledge of security governance frameworks and standards (GDPR, PDPL, ISO27001, NIST, ITU).
• Experience with access control, incident response and security monitoring concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar productivity tools.
• Basic understanding of security technologies and tools.
