Operations Lead – Financial Market Infrastructure

About the role

The venture is building a greenfield central securities depository in Oman, slated to go live in 2027. The Operations Lead will design the operational function from scratch and later run it, ensuring issuers, dealers, custodians and investors receive reliable, on‑time service.

Key responsibilities

• Design the operational function: team structure, capability profile, procedures, runbooks, calendars, cut‑offs and escalation paths.
• Own end‑to‑end settlement execution: trade input, matching, instruction processing, cash and securities movement, settlement finality and exception management.
• Manage registry maintenance: account opening, amendments, position management and holding statements.
• Oversee asset servicing and corporate actions: notification, election capture, processing, distribution and reconciliation.
• Design and operate participant onboarding and day‑to‑day participant services.
• Identify, record, mitigate and escalate first‑line operational risk; run incident management.
• Maintain operational relationships with custodians, settlement banks, exchanges, SWIFT and paying agents.
• Ensure operational readiness for go‑live: trained team, tested procedures, signed‑off runbooks and dress rehearsals.
• Line‑manage Operations Analyst, Corporate Actions Specialist and the broader Operations team as it scales.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in securities, custody, settlement or financial market infrastructure operations.
• Hands‑on experience operating securities settlement and registry processes at scale.
• Direct experience in corporate actions operations across multiple event types.
• Proven ability to design or significantly redesign an operational function, including procedures, runbooks and team structure.
• Track record of operating under regulatory expectations for an FMI or securities‑services business.
• Experience managing operational relationships with custodians, settlement banks and exchanges.
