Pastry Commis I – Full‑time Kitchen Role

About the role

We are looking for a Pastry Commis I to join our kitchen team at a W Hotels property in Muscat. The successful candidate will support food preparation, cooking, and kitchen cleanliness while adhering to our high quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food items.
• Wash, peel and ready fresh fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh, measure and mix ingredients for recipes.
• Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, presentation and quality checklists.
• Prepare cold foods and salads.
• Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
• Test foods for doneness and monitor quality throughout preparation.
• Set up and break down work stations, ensuring proper sanitation.
• Serve food in correct portions and onto appropriate receptacles.
• Wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, knives and equipment, and verify temperature controls.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• At least one year of related kitchen or pastry experience.
• No supervisory experience required.

Required skills

• Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
• Food preparation techniques such as portioning, chopping, measuring and mixing.
• Cooking and assembling dishes according to recipes and quality standards.
• Cold‑food preparation and plating.
