Preventive Maintenance Engineer – Electrical

About the role

The Preventive Maintenance Engineer – Electrical is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical equipment on drilling rigs. The role combines technical oversight, root‑cause analysis and staff leadership to drive effective maintenance practices.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and measure operational performance of all rig electrical equipment.
• Supervise the Electrical Predictive, Preventive and Corrective (PM) system.
• Review, audit and verify electrical work orders for timely and quality completion.
• Support maintenance superintendents and drilling operations to deliver effective maintenance.
• Conduct rig electrical inspections, record findings and manage follow‑up actions.
• Investigate equipment failures, perform root‑cause analysis and implement remedial measures.
• Manage resources to minimise non‑productive time (NPT) and control material and repair costs.
• Lead the rig electrical maintenance team, evaluate personnel and recommend promotions or other actions.
• Plan and execute major overhauls of drilling electrical equipment.
• Create and maintain records in line with API, ISO and other industry standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in rig or industrial environments.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance (predictive, preventive, corrective).
• Root‑cause analysis.
• Familiarity with API and ISO standards.
• Work order management and audit.
• Rig electrical inspection procedures.
• Material cost control and financial close‑out of maintenance activities.
