Principal Geologist – Lead Exploration Programs

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Geologist to lead exploration programmes for copper‑gold, chromite and associated base‑metal deposits in Oman’s under‑explored terranes and support international projects. Reporting to the Director of Exploration Execution, the role is highly field‑oriented and combines technical leadership with hands‑on delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Personally lead and supervise field exploration activities, ensuring technical quality, safety and data discipline.
• Conduct geological mapping at prospect to district scale, including structural, lithological and alteration work, trenching and outcrop logging.
• Design and supervise rock‑chip, channel, soil, stream‑sediment and pXRF sampling programmes.
• Supervise RC and diamond drilling campaigns, covering rig supervision, geological and geotechnical logging, core orientation, density determination, sampling and dispatch.
• Implement field QA/QC procedures, manage standards, blanks and duplicates, validate laboratory results and take corrective actions.
• Capture, validate and load all field data into the corporate MX Deposit database following company standards.
• Generate, rank and mature exploration targets by integrating mapping, geochemistry and other datasets.
• Provide technical support to Business Development and Project Development teams across all project phases.
• Mentor junior geologists and build team capability.

Required profile

• Extensive field experience in base‑metal and precious‑metal exploration.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary field crews and manage complex drilling programmes.
• Strong expertise in prospect generation, target maturation and greenfield/brownfield project evaluation.
• Excellent data‑discipline and QA/QC awareness.
• Willingness to spend the majority of time on‑site in remote locations.
