Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Subject Matter Expert

About the role

Wood is seeking a Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) Subject Matter Expert to join its Projects team in Oman for a one‑year assignment. The SME will support an operating refinery and petrochemical complex, leading the transition from API RP 580 to API RP 581 within a GE‑APM environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the migration of RBI studies from API 580 qualitative methods to API 581 quantitative models for refinery and petrochemical units.
• Implement, validate, and maintain API 581 RBI models in GE‑APM, ensuring alignment with actual operating conditions, materials, and process chemistry.
• Assess legacy RBI studies, identify data gaps (corrosion rates, inspection history, damage mechanisms) and define remediation plans.
• Act as the site RBI technical authority, providing governance, review, and approval of RBI studies and updates.
• Support regulatory compliance, audit activities, and internal assurance related to asset integrity and inspection planning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in on‑shore oil and gas, preferably with refinery or petrochemical assets.
• Proven expertise in API RP 580 and API RP 581 implementation.
• Strong knowledge of GE‑APM (Meridiam/Asset Strategy Management) or similar asset management platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical transitions and provide governance for RBI programs.
