Senior Cladding Engineer

About the role

ATMTA is building a High Precision Training, Research and Development, and Production Center for the energy sector in Muscat. We manufacture mission‑critical, precision‑engineered components for oil and gas, and need a Senior Cladding Engineer to own corrosion‑resistant weld overlay for components that cannot fail.

Key responsibilities

• Own the production of corrosion‑resistant alloy (CRA) weld overlay on sealing surfaces, bores and faces of valves, wellheads and other pressure‑containing components.
• Develop and qualify cladding procedures (WPS and PQR) for CMT, MIG, TIG and laser processes.
• Run and optimise advanced cladding equipment, primarily Fronius, as well as Polysoude, Lincoln Electric and robotic/automated systems.
• Control dilution, bond integrity and metallurgy of Inconel 625 overlay to meet ASTM B446/B443, ASME Section IX and API 6A requirements.
• Qualify overlays to API Q1, NACE MR0175 (ISO 15156) and validate with NDE per ASME Section V.
• Drive deposition rate, quality, cost and cycle‑time improvements and resolve defects through metallurgy and NDT.
• Develop apprentice cladding specialists through structured on‑the‑job training and competency assessment.

Required profile

• Proven experience running CRA weld overlay in a high‑volume production environment.
• Deep knowledge of cladding processes, dilution control and metallurgy.
• Fluency with ASME, API and ASTM codes, especially ASME Section IX, API 6A and Inconel 625 specifications.
• Hands‑on experience with automated and robotic overlay systems.
• Ability to mentor and develop junior technicians.
• Degree in Welding, Materials or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent welding credentials.
