Senior Cost Estimator – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Wood is seeking a Senior Cost Estimation Engineer to join its Projects team in Sohar, Oman. You will support both FEED and detailed design phases for oil and gas projects, delivering accurate cost forecasts and supporting investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review CAPEX/OPEX cost estimates (Class 5 to Class 1) for oil & gas projects.
• Analyse project scope, engineering documents, quantities and material take‑offs.
• Develop estimate basis, cost breakdowns, contingencies and risk assessments.
• Perform cost analysis, benchmarking and maintain estimating databases.
• Support tender evaluations, vendor quotations, budgeting and cost forecasting.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders on funding and investment decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement of estimating processes and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Civil or related).
• Several years of cost estimating experience in onshore oil & gas projects.
• Proven ability to work on FEED and detailed design scopes.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
