Senior Credit Risk Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading financial institution in Oman, seeks an experienced Senior Manager – Credit Risk to join its Risk function. The role involves assessing and approving credit proposals across corporate and retail portfolios, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements, and fostering a strong risk culture.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and approve credit proposals within delegated authority.
• Evaluate credit exposure, financial strength, cash flows, security, industry and country risks.
• Review and challenge credit proposals, recommending approval, decline or additional structuring/security.
• Ensure compliance with credit risk policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and manage credit risk within the bank’s overall risk appetite.
• Work closely with Relationship Managers and business units to ensure timely processing of credit requests.
• Identify weaknesses and ensure remedial action following assessments, audits or examinations.
• Lead, coach and develop team members and promote a strong risk culture.

Required profile

• Omani national with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of banking experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory Credit Risk role.
• Strong experience in credit assessment and credit risk methodologies within a major bank.
• Knowledge of Basel frameworks and credit modelling methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative and research skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, with proficiency in English (Arabic advantageous).
