Senior Education Counsellor - Canada & USA

About the role

IDP, a global leader in international education services operating in more than 50 countries, is hiring a Senior Education Counsellor for its Canada and USA markets. The counsellor guides international students toward the institution that best fits their learning and career goals, giving advice on study options, the local education system and culture, helping with applications and enrolments, and promoting IDP products.

Key responsibilities

• Counsel prospective students on suitable courses and institutions, advise on admissions requirements and processes, and help them build a shortlist of applications.
• Support students through admissions, visa and pre-departure processes, and handle face-to-face, phone and email enquiries promptly.
• Process and submit applications, obtain offers and facilitate enrolments; refer students to agencies for on-arrival issues and support onshore counsellors.
• Identify and nurture leads, including schools, universities, companies and scholarship bodies, and maintain contact with key accounts.
• Build relationships with institution staff and attend briefings, workshops and visits to institutions.
• Help organise promotional events such as interview programs and exhibitions, and promote IDP through institution visits, seminars and exhibitions.
• Share information in team meetings, cooperate with IELTS operations, and report progress to the line manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Fluent in English.
• Experience in a sales-driven environment focused on individual and team targets.
• Knowledge of education institutions, admission processes, immigration requirements and their international operations.
• Experience of education counselling and work or study in a relevant destination country.

Required skills

• CRM systems, including experience using one.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• Strong communication, planning, problem-solving and relationship-building skills.
