Social Studies/Geography Teacher

About the role

The International School of Choueifat in Muscat is seeking a dedicated Social Studies/Geography Teacher to deliver the SABIS curriculum. The role involves using provided lesson plans or developing them from pacing charts, fostering student achievement, and applying the SABIS teaching methodology.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Social Studies and Geography using SABIS lesson plans and point system.
• Mark exams according to departmental schedules.
• Discuss disciplinary and performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller and Head of Department.
• Invigilate exams and maintain a proper exam environment.
• Support low‑performing students to improve motivation and achievement.
• Prepare students for external exams by reviewing past papers as scheduled.
• Assist with duties such as testing, substitute teaching, lunch and bus organization, traffic control, and other administrative tasks assigned by SABIS management.
• Participate in student‑life events (art, open house, physical education) in coordination with the student life coordinator.
• Attend training sessions to deepen understanding of the SABIS system.
• Perform other related tasks or projects as delegated by school management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent qualification.
• Proficient or native English speaker, depending on subject requirements.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
