Software Engineer II – Backend

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer II (Backend) to own, stabilize and evolve our fintech backend systems. You will be the go‑to expert for all backend matters, driving major releases and ensuring reliability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend systems, including day‑to‑day operations, reliability and feature delivery.
• Stabilize existing codebase, understand architecture, data flows and transition from vendor to in‑house team.
• Operate and improve production environments, troubleshoot across application, infrastructure and databases.
• Enhance reliability, performance and observability using tools such as Dynatrace.
• Lead implementation of large, business‑critical features and balance speed with long‑term maintainability.
• Manage deployments on Kubernetes and work across Linux and Windows environments.
• Maintain and optimise PostgreSQL, Oracle and MS SQL databases.
• Raise engineering standards by improving code quality, CI/CD pipelines and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, frontend and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in backend engineering.
• Strong experience with Java or a comparable language.
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle or MS SQL.
• Proven experience with Kubernetes and containerised deployments.
• Demonstrated ability to own and evolve production systems and strong debugging skills.
