Technical Manager, General Insurance

About the role

The Technical Manager will lead the growth and profitability of the General Lines portfolio, overseeing new business acquisition, renewal retention, and the full client relationship lifecycle. This senior position works closely with sales, operations, and regional teams to deliver tailored insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the broker for new business and existing client portfolios, managing all general insurance policies.
• Develop and execute strategies for new business development in partnership with the sales team.
• Build and maintain deep relationships with clients, understanding their business and culture.
• Support the Head of General Lines in supervising, motivating, and developing the team.
• Lead major business presentations, prepare proposals, and manage renewal processes.
• Design innovative and profitable insurance structures and marketing strategies.
• Collaborate with regional and London specialty lines teams.
• Ensure compliance with reporting, regulatory, and operational policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in insurance, handling SME and corporate accounts.
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, CII) preferred.
• Strong understanding of general insurance broking and placement processes.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage client relationships.
