Assistant Dean, Faculty of Engineering

About the role

Muscat University is recruiting an Assistant Dean for its Faculty of Engineering, reporting to the Dean. The role provides academic and administrative leadership, covering academic quality assurance, research advancement, curriculum design and review, and monitoring of student and staff experience. It also supports operational oversight and compliance with accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Help oversee the design, delivery and improvement of academic programmes, in line with institutional strategy, OAAAQA requirements and accreditors
• Support the faculty operational plan and ISA/PSA compliance, including preparing evidence
• Assist with faculty recruitment, workload allocation and mentoring, and coordinate staff development and training
• Improve student retention, success and employability, and monitor student engagement and grievance handling
• Strengthen research culture, secure funding opportunities, manage industry and accreditation partnerships, and support the Research and Innovation Centre and/or Incubator
• Manage faculty budgets, resources and infrastructure, and prepare reports for the Vice-Chancellor, University Council and OAAAQA
• Follow up on continuous improvement action plans and carry out other duties assigned by the line manager

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant academic discipline with a minimum rank of Associate Professor
• Minimum 12-15 years of academic experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role at a recognised institution
• Proven record of teaching, research and academic service
• Priority in recruitment given to Omani candidates
