Assistant Pastry Chef

About the role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Assistant Pastry Chef to support the Pastry Chef in preparing high‑quality pastries, desserts, cakes and other baked products. The role involves assisting with daily kitchen operations while upholding strict standards of quality, hygiene and presentation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Pastry Chef in preparing pastries, cakes, desserts, breads and other baked products.
• Measure and prepare ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements.
• Help with decorating, plating and presentation of desserts and pastries.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
• Monitor ingredient stocks, report shortages and store ingredients and finished products properly.
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely and correctly.
• Support the development and testing of new products when required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a pastry kitchen, bakery, hotel, restaurant or catering environment.
• Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Culinary or pastry‑related certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
• Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to operate and maintain pastry equipment safely.
