Assistant Pastry Chef

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Assistant Pastry Chef to support the head pastry chef in producing high‑quality pastries, desserts, cakes and baked goods. The role involves daily kitchen operations, maintaining strict hygiene standards and contributing to product development when required.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing pastries, cakes, breads and other baked products according to recipes.
• Measure and portion ingredients accurately and maintain consistent quality, texture and appearance.
• Decorate, plate and present desserts and pastries to the required standard.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
• Monitor ingredient stocks, report shortages and store products properly.
• Operate and maintain pastry equipment safely.
• Support the Pastry Chef in testing and developing new products.
• Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of experience in a pastry kitchen, bakery, hotel, restaurant or catering environment.
• Solid knowledge of pastry and baking techniques.
• Ability to follow recipes and production instructions accurately.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Attention to detail with a focus on quality and presentation.
• Capable of working under pressure in a fast‑paced kitchen.
• Team‑oriented with good communication skills.
• Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods.
• Culinary or pastry‑related certification is an advantage.
