CBB Processing Technologist

About the role

The CBB Processing Technologist is responsible for handling cord blood units from receipt through processing, quality control, storage, and shipment in a regulated laboratory environment. The role ensures compliance with GMP, ALCOA+ and maintains strict cleanroom discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and accession cord blood units, verify temperature, labels, documents and apply ISBT 128 labeling.
• Process units in a Grade A biosafety cabinet using aseptic techniques such as volume reduction, red cell depletion and cryoprotectant addition.
• Collect quality‑control samples (TNC, CD34+, viability, sterility, blood group) and maintain accurate batch records.
• Operate the controlled‑rate freezer and manage LN₂ vapour‑phase storage, performing daily checks and responding to alarms.
• Retrieve, thaw and ship units for release with QA approval and second‑person verification.
• Maintain cleanroom discipline, perform equipment checks and keep cleaning logs.
• Support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ, media fills), audits and MOH/AABB inspections.
• Follow GMP and ALCOA+ standards and report any deviations to QA immediately.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
• Oman MOH professional licence.
• Minimum two years of experience in a blood bank, transfusion, stem‑cell or cell‑culture laboratory.
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, centrifugation, cell separation and biosafety cabinet operation.
• Good English language skills and basic computer knowledge of eDMS/LIMS.
