Design Engineer (CAD)

About the role

The Design Engineer (CAD) is a cross‑segment technical resource responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, technical drawings and design data that support new product development across Outdoor & Recreation, Learning & Development and Home & Commercial segments.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings with GD&T for parts and assemblies.
• Build parametric, design‑intent‑driven models that support downstream tooling and manufacturing.
• Produce and control engineering drawings, bills of materials and design documentation according to Newell standards.
• Manage design data, revisions and change control within PDM/PLM systems.
• Apply deep expertise in plastic part design for injection and blow molding, including wall thickness, draft, ribs, bosses, gating, shrinkage and warpage.
• Select and recommend appropriate polymeric resins and molding processes to meet cost and performance targets.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in plastic part design for injection and blow molding.
• Strong understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
• Ability to collaborate with industrial designers and product development teams.

Required skills

• CAD modeling (3D and 2D) with GD&T.
• Proficiency in PDM/PLM systems.
• Injection molding design expertise.
• Blow molding design expertise.
• Knowledge of polymeric resin selection.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
